Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Reloc8te (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information across our website and services. It applies to solo consumers, real-estate agents who use our agent tools, and clients of those agents whose details are entered into our service. Section 11 describes how those roles differ.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Identifiers — name, email address, and (if you provide it) phone number.
  • Household & financial details — income, filing status, family size and children's ages, work situation, housing situation, and home value/mortgage details.
  • Location — your current city/state and, for a property valuation, your home address and ZIP.
  • Military & service status — veteran, active-duty, or surviving-spouse status, VA disability rating, and first-responder status, where you choose to provide them.
  • Uploaded documents — if you choose to upload tax or benefit documents (W-2, Form 1040, pay stubs, 1099s, VA award letters), we read the relevant figures from them.
  • Relocation preferences — destination cities and lifestyle priorities.

Collected automatically: pages visited, browser type, IP address, and device information through standard, privacy-preserving analytics.

2. Sensitive Information

Some information you may provide is sensitive — in particular a VA disability rating (which relates to health), and details about children in your household. We use this information only to calculate the benefits and comparisons in your own report, never to make decisions about you, and never for advertising. Sensitive identifiers such as your name and home address are encrypted at rest, and uploaded documents are permanently deleted within 24 hours of processing.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Generate personalized relocation reports based on your household data
  • Create and manage your account and, for agents, their client roster
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send transactional messages (sign-in links, report delivery, account updates)
  • With your consent, send marketing email and/or SMS updates (Sections 6–7)
  • Maintain the security, reliability, and accuracy of the service
  • Respond to support inquiries and comply with legal obligations

4. Who We Share Data With, and Where Our Data Comes From

Service providers who process your personal data on our behalf. We share only the minimum necessary for each to perform its function:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage (holds your account and profile data; sensitive fields are encrypted).
  • Stripe — payment processing (name, email, payment details; we never store your full card number).
  • Anthropic (Claude) — AI report generation, and reading figures from any documents you upload.
  • OpenAI — text embeddings used to power our city-knowledge search.
  • Resend — email delivery (email address and message content).
  • RentCast and ATTOM Data — if you provide a home address for a valuation, that address is sent to obtain a property value/rent estimate.
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — converts an address you provide into map coordinates.
  • Sentry — error monitoring (may incidentally include technical data).
  • Plausible — privacy-preserving, cookie-light website analytics (aggregate usage).
  • Advertising and measurement platforms Google (Tag Manager, Analytics, Ads), Meta, TikTok, and LinkedIn, used to measure which campaigns lead to sign-ups and to show relevant ads. These run only with your cookie consent, and where we send a purchase event from our servers your email address is hashed first. See Section 8.

Public reference data we pull in by location only (we do not send your personal information to these sources): U.S. Census Bureau / American Community Survey, Bureau of Economic Analysis, Bureau of Labor Statistics, FBI crime data, FEMA (hazard and flood), the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the FCC, the U.S. Dept. of Education College Scorecard, Zillow research data, Open-Meteo, OpenStreetMap points of interest, and published tax tables. These provide the metro- and county-level statistics in your report.

Each provider has its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal information for money; for how advertising cookies count as “sharing” under California law, and how to opt out, see Section 8a.

5. Sponsored Placements

Reports may include a clearly labeled sponsored placement from a licensed real-estate agent who pays us a flat monthly advertising fee. Placements are selected using only the destination metro area of your report.

We never share the following with advertisers: your name, email address, phone number, home address, household income, veteran or military status, disability rating, family or children's details, filing status, or any part of your report. Advertisers cannot target placements by any of these characteristics, and we do not offer such targeting. Clicking a placement opens the agent's own contact details — it does not transmit anything about you. We do not use third-party ad networks, advertising pixels, or cross-site trackers.

6. Text Messages (SMS)

We send SMS text messages only if you provide your express written consent by checking the dedicated SMS box and providing your mobile number. If you opt in, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Reloc8te about your relocation reports and account (estimated up to a few messages per month). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time, or HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase. We do not share mobile numbers or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing.

7. Email Communications

Transactional email (sign-in links, report delivery, receipts, account and security notices) is part of the service and is sent regardless of marketing preferences. Marketing email (tips, product news, offers) is sent only with your consent, always includes a one-click unsubscribe and our physical mailing address, and can be turned off at any time in your settings or via the unsubscribe link, in accordance with the CAN-SPAM Act. Unsubscribing from marketing does not affect transactional messages.

8. Cookies, Analytics & Advertising

We use three categories of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Strictly necessary— authentication, session management, security, and remembering your cookie choice. These cannot be switched off and are used on every visit.
  • Analytics— how the site is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it. Our primary analytics tool (Plausible) is cookieless and does not track you across sites.
  • Advertising— measuring which ads and campaigns lead to sign-ups, and showing you relevant ads on other platforms. These are set through Google Tag Manager and may include Google Analytics / Google Ads, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok, and LinkedIn. We also record marketing parameters in the link you arrived on (such as utm_source, gclid, or fbclid) so we can attribute a sign-up to the campaign that produced it.

Your choice. If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, no analytics or advertising technology runs until you opt in. Elsewhere, these are on by default and you may opt out at any time. You can change or withdraw your choice whenever you like using the “Cookie Settings”link in the footer of every page; withdrawing is as easy as consenting. Your browser’s “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal is also honored as an opt-out where required by law.

Server-side conversion measurement. When you purchase a plan, we may send the advertising platform a record of that purchase directly from our servers, so the campaign that produced it can be credited even if your browser blocked the tag. Where identifiers are included, your email address is irreversibly hashed (SHA-256) before it is sent, and it is omitted entirely if you have declined advertising cookies.

8a. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, under the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and similar state laws, using the advertising cookies described above to show you ads on other platforms counts as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To opt out of that sharing, open “Cookie Settings”in the footer and turn off Advertising, or choose “Only necessary.” This works without an account, applies to the browser you use it in, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising it. You can also email privacy@reloc8te.com. We do not knowingly share the personal information of anyone under 16.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

Uploaded financial documents are automatically deleted within 24 hours of processing (figures read from them may be retained as part of your report). Reports and profile data are retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal, tax, and security purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (Section 10).

10. Your Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA, GDPR & others)

In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email, phone); commercial information (subscriptions, purchases); financial information you provide (income, filing status, housing/mortgage details); geolocation (home and destination locations); characteristics such as veteran/military and first-responder status and family details; internet/device activity; and inferences drawn to build your report. Sourcesare you, your agent (if you are an agent's client), and your device. We share these categories with the service providers in Section 4 for the business purposes in Section 3.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know / access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your information
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
  • Opt out of marketing, and limit the use of sensitive information
  • Non-discrimination for exercising these rights

We do not sell your personal information. If you allow advertising cookies, we doshare identifiers and internet activity for cross-context behavioral advertising, as described in Section 8 — you can opt out at any time via “Cookie Settings” in the footer (Section 8a). We also disclose personal information to the service providers listed above so they can perform services for us. To exercise any right, email privacy@reloc8te.com — we will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are in the EEA/UK, our legal bases are contract performance, consent (for marketing/SMS), and our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service.

11. Agents, Their Clients, and Solo Users

  • Solo consumers — you provide your own data and Reloc8te is the controller of it.
  • Agents — when an agent enters or uploads a client's information into our service, the agent is responsible for that client's data as its controller, and Reloc8te processes it on the agent's behalf to produce reports. Agents are responsible for having a lawful basis and any necessary consent to enter their clients' data.
  • Clients of agents — if your agent invited you, some of your details may have been entered by your agent, and you may add or update them yourself. Your report is prepared for you and shared by your agent. You can contact us to access or delete your information.

12. Children

Reloc8te is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Information about children in a household is provided by an adult account holder and used only to calculate that household's report.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or a prominent notice on our website. Continued use of Reloc8te after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
